The Position

City of Santee is seeking qualified candidates for the position of
Recreation Aide (Part time, Temporary). Under direct supervision of
a Recreation Program/Special Event Supervisor, the Recreation Aide
position assists with the operation and safe implementation of
recreational programs and/or activities. This classification is
part-time, temporary and seasonal.
Seasonal Core Hours:
School Year: Fall, Winter, and Spring (mid August - mid June):
Monday through Friday, 2:00 - 6:00pm
Summer (mid June - mid August):
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm
Hours are subject to change based upon Departmental needs. Evening,
weekend, and holiday shifts may be scheduled during any season.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the
ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example
would be:
Education: Formal or informal education or training which ensures
the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful
job performance.
Experience: Some experience or participation in organized
recreation, sports, community service, leadership group activity or
clubs or a related field including paid or unpaid positions, or
school related participation, is preferred but not required.
Special Requirements
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Class C California driver's
license is preferred. A safe driving record is required and must be
maintained during time of employment.
Proof of a tuberculosis (TB) test taken within the last 2 years is
required or a TB test will be provided during the pre-employment
process.
A first aid and CPR card are also required and must be obtained
within 30 days of employment.
Background InvestigationThe applicant selected will be subject to a
criminal history investigation through the California Department of
Justice (DOJ) and a thorough background check if age 18+. All
selected applicants will be subject to a thorough background check.
A waiver for reference and background information must be
completed.
City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers
through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath
to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster
Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work
as ordered in the event of an emergency.
This position is considered part-time temporary and does not
receive any benefits other than participation in the appropriate
retirement plan (CalPERS or PARS). The City only participates in
the Medicare portion of social security.
PARS participants contribution 3.75% of salary to their retirement
account, which is matched by the City.
PERS participants currently contribute a percentage of salary to
their retirement account based on their retirement formula, with
the City paying the additional required amount.
