Position description
The Department of Pathology (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) at the
University of California San Diego School of Medicine UCSD is
committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty,
staff, and student body and is seeking Assistant, Associate, or
Full Project Scientists in the field of Liver cell biology
research.
The Department of Pathology plays a key role in the University's
three missions: It aims to achieve the highest standards in patient
care, research, and education. The Department provides diagnostic
pathology services in a wide variety of subspecialties with highly
trained subspecialists who are recognized for their expertise. The
Department's research programs are diverse and interface with a
wealth of basic and translational research programs that are a
hallmark of UC San Diego.
The Project Scientists will be responsible for performing basic
research regarding intercellular vesicle trafficking in the liver.
They will participate in projects related to understanding the
complex mechanism of hepatocarcinogenesis and drug resistance. The
techniques include partial hepatectomy, DEN, CCl4 and clonal
tracing in vivo, vector construction, CRISPR knock-in system,
vesicle isolation, proximity labeling, various microscopy
techniques and so on. In addition, the successful candidates will
play a leadership role in managing the projects, and also be
involved in analyzing the data, teaching, preparing presentations
and reports, and publishing the studies.
Appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist
level will be based on the candidate's background and
experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD in cell/molecular biology,
liver biology, or related fields.
Candidates must have at least 4 years of postdoctoral experience in
one or more of the following areas: liver regeneration, cancer
biology, organelle analysis, vesicle trafficking, or related
fields.
